Ready to enrol?

We offer a curriculum for every stage of learning – kindergarten, primary, secondary, and senior. The first step in enrolling is simply selecting your child’s grade level.

Need to start right away?

If your child needs a fresh start now, you do not have to wait. The principal of your child’s current school can grant a short exemption of up to one month, once the Department for Education’s home education office has confirmed your application has been lodged. This lets your child begin home education straight away while your full application is assessed.

How homeschooling works in South Australia

Apply for a home education exemption

In South Australia, home education is managed through an exemption from attending school. You apply to the Department for Education, which assesses your educational program. Children aged 6 to 17 must hold a valid exemption to be home educated.

Choose a curriculum

Your educational program must meet the goals of the Australian Curriculum across all eight learning areas. Euka provides a complete, structured program covering all eight learning areas, with all the documentation the Department for Education expects.

Start home education while your application is assessed

If you need to begin home education straight away, the principal of your child’s current school can grant a short exemption of up to one month. This applies once the Department for Education’s home education office has confirmed your full application has been lodged. Euka’s Registration Service prepares your documentation quickly, so your application is ready to lodge as soon as possible.

Complete the home education officer meeting

The meeting with a home education officer is a supportive conversation, not a test. The officer reviews your learning plan, talks through your child’s needs, and checks that your program covers the Australian Curriculum. Euka’s Registration Service documentation is designed so you walk in fully prepared.

Renew your exemption each year

Before your exemption period ends, you must submit a home education review form showing evidence of your child’s learning progress and your plans for the coming year. Euka’s Reporting tools help you compile everything you need.

Exemption definition paragraph

In South Australia, the home education exemption is the official approval granted by the Department for Education that allows families to educate their child at home instead of enrolling in a registered school. Families apply to the Department, provide a learning program covering all eight learning areas, and meet with a home education officer. Children aged 6 to 17 must hold a valid exemption, and exemptions are reviewed each year.

Homeschooling that works the way your child learns

Why South Australian families choose homeschooling

Build self-confidence through ownership

When children have greater ownership over their learning, they develop real self-belief, and the skills to carry it with them into whatever comes next.

Study anywhere, anytime, at your own pace

Euka’s program is fully online. Your child can study from home, a library, a cafe, or anywhere your family happens to be, whenever works best for you.

Balance study with elite sport, the arts, or life

Homeschooling gives South Australian students the flexibility to train, compete, perform, or travel without sacrificing their education. Study around swimming training, performing arts rehearsals, or a family trip, not the other way around.

A safe, supportive learning environment

Away from playground pressures and negative social dynamics, homeschooling gives children the space to focus on learning, build confidence, and grow at their own pace.

A curriculum built for South Australia

Euka’s program aligns with the Australian Curriculum across all year levels, structured to meet the Department for Education’s home education requirements: a complete, standards-aligned education designed for home learners.

Common myths about homeschooling in South Australia

Addressing common myths about homeschooling. Check out our article for more.

Homeschooled kids are sheltered

With greater flexibility, homeschooled kids engage with the world around them more than kids stuck in a classroom. They learn from real-world projects, community groups, sport or excursions, from Adelaide co-ops to regional South Australia meetups, and have the time to pursue their passions or take on work experience.

Homeschooled kids are lonely

Homeschooled students socialise in many different ways through sport, clubs, co-ops, meetups, and more. They’re not limited to one classroom, they build friendships across age groups, settings, and interests.

Homeschooled kids don’t do extracurricular activities

Many families specifically choose homeschooling to enable their child to pursue their passion whether that’s music, dance, coding, sport, drama, and more. With the additional flexibility that homeschooling provides, students can balance their learning around their chosen pursuit.

Homeschooled kids just play all day

Homeschooling is far more efficient than a traditional classroom. Euka students enjoy learning in ways that suit them. They complete their required study in around 2 to 3 hours each day; giving them time to dive more deeply into subjects that interest them or pursue their passions.

Homeschooling lacks structure

At Euka, we structure our programs to maximise learning and growth. Our lessons are mapped week-by-week, with progress you can see. Families get the benefit of a clear plan with the freedom to adapt it to their life.

Homeschooling is a last resort

For many Euka families in South Australia, homeschooling is a conscious choice; a proactive decision to prioritise wellbeing, flexibility, and real-world learning. It’s not a backup plan; it’s a better-fit option.

Why families love Euka

For us this was a perfect introduction to home schooling. The people at Euka are very helpful. They answered every question I had, no matter how small. The curriculum was easy to follow. We are still in our first term, and we can see we will need to tailor the curriculum to suit our child in the coming terms.
