Apply to the ACT Education Directorate
You apply to the ACT Education Directorate’s Home Education team using the online application form. To be eligible, your child must be aged 6 to 17, live in the ACT, and you must have parental responsibility for them. You can start home educating as soon as you submit a complete application, and the Directorate confirms approval within 28 days.
Submit a Statement of Intent
Within three months of your registration start date, you submit a Statement of Intent describing the educational opportunities you will offer and how you will support your child’s learning. The Directorate then invites you to a short online review meeting. Euka’s Registration Service helps you prepare this documentation, structured to meet ACT requirements.
Report on progress once a year
Each year, you submit a Home Education Report by 31 December, describing how your child has progressed intellectually, socially, emotionally, and physically. Euka’s program builds a record of completed work as you go, so your annual report is straightforward to put together. You apply to renew your registration at least three months before it expires.
Years 11 and 12 – senior secondary pathways
In the ACT, senior secondary studies are managed by the ACT Board of Senior Secondary Studies (BSSS), which issues the ACT Senior Secondary Certificate (ACT SSC). Home-educated students do not receive the ACT SSC. Euka’s University Pathway program provides a fully assessed alternative: marked assignments, an official Senior Certificate, and alternative entry pathways to leading Australian universities.
In the ACT, you choose how you teach. The Education Directorate encourages families to be aware of the Australian Curriculum but does not require you to follow it.

University pathways for ACT students
For ACT students in Years 11 and 12, Euka’s University Pathway program is our assessed senior option. Students receive marked feedback on assignments from qualified teachers and an official Senior Certificate, exclusively available on the University Pathway plan.
