Grade
Grade 7 is a time for real growth in their maturity, and a desire to self-regulate their learning. Our program allows High School students to become truly self-sufficient and monitor their time. The timetable provided can be used by the student themselves to create a program of learning that fits into their life to enhance it. The enthusiasm for gaining new skills and knowledge explodes during these early teen years. We have ensured the Grade 7 program allows for, and encourages this increased desire for knowledge and challenge.
All subjects are included and Grade 7 features Inspiring Novels in English, Maths investigations, Science experiments in Biology/Chemistry/Physics and Earth Sciences, History research, Geography explorations, Artistic creations, Health discoveries and PE Skill building. In addition, Grade 7 also introduces the two new subjects Business/Economics and Civics/Citizenship.

Curriculum
English
Grade 7 provides the students with the opportunity to examine novels chosen to allow them to develop their own character, opinions and ideas. A great deal of time has been taken to select books worthy of the student’s time and effort put in to read and study them. All novels provide the chance to reflect on characters, analyse plots and develop new concepts. Increasing the vocabulary is a wonderful feature of the English program, as each new word allows the students to express themselves in greater depth.
Mathematics
Grade 7 math is a hands-on continuation of math principles the students have learnt in the younger grades. The focus is on presenting each topic in a relevant, enjoyable and meaningful way. With the addition of the multi-grade, online program, Mathspace, students can not only work on the Grade 7 program but extend themselves or catch up on any math aspects they need revision on. Math is best taught as an exciting opportunity to learn more about our world.
Science
Our Grade 7 program features experiments, individual research projects and many new ways to use the knowledge gained during lessons. We cover the Biological Sciences, Chemical Sciences, Earth and Space Sciences and Physical Sciences, throughout the year. Euka makes Science come to life.
HASS
Geography/History – Alternating Terms: Through major studies of the history of Egypt and China, students will discover the fascinating aspects of history. The information they learn will be used in relevant ways that encourage active input into their own uncovering of history.
Research and understanding of the continent of Asia is part of the geography journey that Euka facilitates. Learning about culture, climate, tourism, resources and trade between Asia and Australia, allows the student to have a greater understanding of our country’s relationship with others.
Economics & Business
Terms 1 & 3
Students will not only have the chance to learn business principles but also to put them to use in creating their own business. This allows them to experience the reality of each step in the process. They learn to interpret results, budget, make changes based on investigation and many other valuable lessons.
Civics & Citizenship
Terms 2 & 4
Learning about the way the Government and the legal system work are vital to being an informed citizen. In this subject we will examine diversity, country identity, laws and democracy. A good grounding in the way our country operates, allows students to grow into well prepared adults.
Health
An in-depth examination of the many body systems and how we can keep them in great condition is a great foundation for physical health. Grade 7 health involves investigating strategies to manage their own personal, physical and social changes that occur during this time of change and is a feature of this course.
PDHPE
The student is given the chance to develop their own fitness log, and learn how to adjust exercise to gain the best advantage. Many skills are refined and students are also encouraged to decide to work on their own personal fitness activities and goals.
Art
(Drama, Music and Visual Arts)
All aspects of the arts are covered in Grade 7 art. Visual arts is the focus of Term 1. This is joined by dance, media arts, drama and music, throughout the year. The subject provides great ideas and opportunities to discover and develop their creativity in many areas. Producing artworks that others can enjoy and share is a focus of Grade 7 art.
