Senior Excursion Info
We are keen to arrange some great face to face learning experiences. Here is an excursion that is FREE and would be excellent for any students in Brisbane who are looking at a career in the Health or Medical industry.
We will need to get the numbers needed to host our own event. It is suggested that this excursion is geared at Grade 10 and above level. Book your place by emailing me: ellen@euka.edu.au
The Integrated Pathology Learning Centre (IPLC) offers an insightful learning experience, providing a rare opportunity for students studying a range of disciplines to come face-to-face with a variety of diseases. During their visit, students will participate in workshops that cover a wide range of issues, exploring the pathology underlying health problems and disease prevention. This includes investigating the effects of behavioural and environmental factors on health and thinking critically about personal and peer attitudes to contemporary health issues. A visit to the IPLC is a mostly guided experience. Upon arrival, staff and students are introduced to the Museum by the Curator who covers any ethical and safety issues. Students will have the opportunity to view normal organs before comparing and contrasting them to ones affected by infectious or non-infectious diseases. Students will also have the opportunity to explore the Museum and direct their own learning.
The program will start at the entrance to the UQ Health Sciences Building in the grounds of the Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital (RBWH)
