NEW EUKA ACTIVE LEARNING
This month in Euka we have seen two big developments. Firstly we have our new Euka electives and short courses ready to roll out in the coming weeks, and secondly, we have added some new Active Learning questions to the Highschool Portal which will be released for Term 3. Add to this the amazing Euka “students of the month” and the huge variety of events on around the country and you have a bumper load of excitement.

By now you would have seen an email as well as the information in last month’s newsletter about the new active learning questions that have been added to the portal. You will begin to see these over the next few weeks when you jump into Term 3. In case you missed the information, you can read about it below.
The Euka values of Empowering, Trail-blazing, Passionate and Exceptional extend right through the company. From the caring support team to the teachers creating new lessons, we strive to provide an education that changes lives.
As a result, we are thrilled to share with you the latest exciting upgrade to the High School Euka program. With the desire to provide instant feedback to students while also making the journey easier for parents, we have now included markable questions within many of the lessons themselves. This has allowed us to take many of the questions that would normally be done on an activity sheet, and bring the lessons to life. You will find that from Term 3, questions will appear within lessons in English, Science, History or Geography, encouraging the students to be active learners, using their learning as they go, and checking and updating their responses.
Active learning develops a child’s confidence, engagement and the overall effectiveness of their learning. The benefits continue with the opportunity to cut down on printing of activity sheets, instant marking and printable completed activity sheets.
After trialling the additional active learning content with students in Term 2 the feedback has been overwhelmingly positive. With parents reporting their children are more focussed and independent in their learning.
So how does it work?
Variety it the key. There are a huge array of new types of questions. From crosswords that are instantly marked, to questions aimed at having students share their understanding. Students can “check” their answers, and most importantly have the opportunity to update their answers based on their new understanding. This is the most effective way to learn!
Instant feedback encourages the increased development of concept acquisition.
How Will Activity Sheets Work?
Ensuring we support every family to Homeschool in their own way, is fundamental to empowering Euka families. To provide the greatest freedom and opportunity we will enable parents to choose between printing off the full activity sheet files (including the questions included in the lessons) or printing the compressed version that only includes questions or activities not able to be embedded in the lessons.

New Euka electives
The Euka Teaching team have been busy creating new Elective courses for our students. As you may know, each State has a different requirement for electives. Some States allow complete freedom of choice and others have a structured approach. We have been busy creating new elective courses to meet all the requirements for every State ensuring they are also fun, relevant and combine theory with practical activities.
Electives are a wonderful way to try new things and begin to find out what you like as a learner and what you don’t like. For this reason, we are always happy for students to move into new electives at any time.
The new electives have been split into Term unit courses. These combine to cover the full year. For example:-
Industrial Technology Timber consists of 8 separate unit courses:
Each course will have 10 weeks of Theory and a project that is created across the 10 weeks.

Scope and Nature of Carpentry Certificate
Carpentry Tools, Equipment, Materials and Safety Certificate
Cutting and Joining Timber – Carpentry Certificate
Planning and Setting Out a Project – Carpentry Certificate
Finishing Wood – Carpentry Certificate
Outside Construction – Carpentry Certificate
Construction Certificate
Understanding House Construction Certificate
These elective courses can be done in any order. Do one unit. Do them all. The choice is yours.

Foundation – Grade 10 Half yearly Academic Transcript
We have reached that time of the year again where we are happy to organise your half-yearly transcript. If you have paid for a full year (4 consecutive Terms) and the Euka Registration and Reporting service, you are eligible to have an individual academic transcript created for you.
How it works:
Email us and ask for a link for reporting.
We will send you a link to fill in as the parent supervisor. The link will just ask you to indicate how well your child went in the various subject areas. You can then submit the form.
Our team will then take the information you supply and create your own academic transcript to be emailed back to you.
These provide a real boost for kids as they see all their hard work has paid off. Don’t forget to add them to the Student Assessment Handbook found in the “Getting Started” section of the portal.
Grades 11 & 12 half-yearly Academic Transcript
All Grade 11 and 12 students are eligible for their half-yearly transcripts. If your child is in the non-assessed program, we will be sending you a link in the next two weeks that you can fill in. This information will be used by our teachers to compile your half-yearly academic transcript.
If your child is in the UPC Assessed program, we will provide the Academic Transcript complete with the Term 1 and 2 marks added, in approximately. 2 weeks. The Euka teachers are currently busy marking the wonderful assessments that have been uploaded. The sheer talent and hard work of the Euka senior students have been fantastic to see. Over the coming weeks, we will showcase some of the inspiring achievements of our senior students.
