Euka News – December 2022

As 2022 comes to a close, we find ourselves reflecting on the year it has been. With many new Euka families joining the long Term Euka community, we have seen a vast array of fantastic learning experiences posted on the Facebook page as well as emailed in to our team.

Watching the Grade 12 students leave us and enter University brings with it as touch of nostalgia. Some of these were our first Euka students who joined us many years ago. We certainly wish them all the best as they enjoy the next steps of their life journey.

This year we have seen the introduction of fillable activity sheets, condensed activity sheets and new digital marking questions (read more about G3-6) added to the portal. We have seen many students enjoying the after-school Clubs including Minecraft, Cooking and Lego Clubs. We introduced Maths Club to provide valuable input for High school Maths classes and have seen a growing number of families using this resource.

From the entire Euka team we want to thank you for allowing us the privilege of being part of your family this year. From helping with initial onboarding to providing completion Certificates, and every step in between, we strive to provide you with the very best support and education program possible.

Have a wonderful Festive season.

Euka Christmas Closures

There are a few days that Euka will be closed to allow the team a refresh, so keep the following dates in mind, when organising your enrolment for 2023:

Final day Friday 23rd December 2022
Re-open Wednesday 4th January

Grade 11 & 12 Enrolment Open

With many Euka families getting organised and enrolling their children for 2023, it may be helpful to know that enrolment is now officially open for Grade 11 & 12.

Euka is always focussed on empowering students to take ownership over their work. Great news – Grade 11 & 12 program is now self-paced without specific dates for assessments to be uploaded. This allows students to work at their own pace with more options about when they complete the courses. For those in the UPC (assessed program) our teachers will mark all year round meaning that you can upload your assessments whenever you are ready, and move on.

So, there is no need to wait until next year. If you want to get started, you are able to enrol and begin at any time.

If you are new to Euka and have any questions about Grade 11 & 12 enrolment, feel free to contact us at info@euka.edu.au.

EUKA – TAFE AT SCHOOL Program

Euka is thrilled to announce that finally our Qld home school students are now eligible for the TAFE at school program. This basically means that while completing Grade 10, 11 or 12, there are a large number of fully funded courses you can be doing at the same time.

We will work with you to provide an exemption from a school subject or two depending on the course you choose.

For students in other States, we are working on providing you the same or similar options. We will keep you posted.

Digital Activity Questions Update- Grade 3 – 6

Making life easier for parents, while engaging students in their learning is a priority for the Euka team.

A new initiative that was rolled out to High school students through the year was the new digital activity questions. The wonderful news is that from Term 1 all Grade 3 – 6 students will also have these activities added to their learning portal.

So, what are digital Activities? We have taken some of the questions usually found on activity sheets and made them interactive. The students will be able to type in their answer, check how they went and even redo their answer if needed. As a parent this will cut down the time needed to go back and mark some of the work like vocabulary and comprehension, that can be time consuming. You can print the page with the students answers if you want to, or if needed for reporting. All the creative activities and the activity sheet files are still there, as much of what the Euka students do is grounded in hands on learning. The addition of the digital activities is simply to allow instant feedback, engage students, and allow parents more time to enjoy the Homeschooling journey.
