Registration and Reporting for Homeschooling in Western Australia
We understand that the mandatory registration process and reporting requirements for the Western Australian Government can feel daunting, confusing and overwhelming, not to mention time-consuming.
That’s why we’ve put together this guide, which gives you step-by-step instructions for registering and reporting.
And to streamline the process, Euka offers a Government Registration Service where we compile your child’s learning plans, and a Government Report Creator where we collate the report; to make it easier for you to submit the paperwork to the Government. These services can be purchased together or separately when you enrol your child for a full year (four consecutive terms).

Our Step by Step Guide
Registering your child
Homeschooling families in Western Australia with students aged from 5.5 to 17.5 are required to register with the Western Australian Department of Education.
The Education Department requires:
- A curriculum plan
- Work Samples & Parent Assessment Checklists from the first three months of homeschooling.
- Your child’s birth certificate
Using Euka’s Government Registration Service, we’ll generate your child’s learning plans, so that you can submit the documentation to the Government. Euka can’t submit the application or contact the Government on your behalf; the Department of Education will only engage with the child’s parent or guardian.

Here are the steps to register with the WA Government if you’ve purchased the Government Registration Service.

Reviewing and reporting
A home education moderator from the Western Australian Department of Education will periodically arrange visits.
The purpose of the meeting is to provide an update of your child’s progress and report any learning concerns you may have. The meeting will focus on what the child can do, has achieved, and can understand, rather than the work that is completed.
The home education moderator will ensure that the educational program links to the Western Australian Curriculum and wants to understand the progress of your child.
We recommend submitting work samples from all learning areas. Using Euka’s Government Report Creator, once you’ve uploaded your child’s work samples and added your comments to the Government Report Creator dashboard located in your child’s Student Portal, we’ll collate the information into a report for you to submit to the Government.
The Western Australian Department of Education website has more information about reporting.
